Wedding Hairstyles - Choosing the Right Stylist

The wedding day is the most important day in a woman’s life. A woman want to look her most beautiful, her most radiant. Along with the perfect wedding dress, she wants her hair to look gorgeous on her wedding day. The right hair stylist is the key to a beautiful hairstyle.

The first step in choosing the right hair stylist is to get referrals. Ask friends, co-workers, neighbors and especially recent brides. Find out what they liked about a particular stylist: demeanor, timeliness, experience, etc. A referral cannot be overvalued; it limits the pool of potential stylists while eliminating less experienced stylists. If no referrals are forthcoming, recruit one of the bridesmaids to research and recommend suitable hair stylists.

Another way to do a preliminary search is to attend bridal fairs. Most major cities will host these fairs geared toward brides. Among the exhibitions, there will be local hair stylists publicizing their services. They will have a portfolio which showcases the styles they have created for brides.

The next step is to schedule consultations with three to five hairstylists. It should be discussed prior to the appointment if a nominal fee will be charged for the consultation. The more information the stylist has, the better hairstyle design will be. Bring a picture of yourself, the wedding gown and the veil or headpiece. Also, it is important to let the stylist know if the wedding is during the day or in the evening. The bride-to-be should bring some pictures of hairstyles that they like. During the meeting, a good stylist will evaluate the face shape of the bride-to-be. Then, accordingly, the stylist can recommend suitable hairstyles taking all the factors into consideration. For example, a chignon will look lovely on a bride with a heart-shaped face because it balances the wide forehead and the small chin. The height desired will come from the headpiece. Most brides-to-be will bring a picture of the hairstyle they want regardless of the face shape. A good stylist will listen to the wants of the bride-to-be, but also explain why certain hairstyles will look best on her. A bride-to-be is looking to the expertise of the stylist.

Another part of the consultation is to determine the level of education and training of the hair stylist. Most stylists will be happy to explain their educational background as well as whether they are currently enrolled in continuing education coursing in hairstyling to learn the current trends. It should also be determined if the bridesmaids are going to make their own arrangements for hairstyling or if the hairstylist has associates that can accommodate.

Once the consultations are done, the bride-to-be has to narrow the potential hairstylists to two hairstylists. Then, she should make appointments to get trial hairstyles done. If possible, the bride-to-be should wear a white shirt with a neckline similar to the wedding gown and bring her veil or head piece. Based on the trial hairstyles, the woman should be able to choose her hair stylist. The details such as whether the hairstyling is done at the salon or at your house and whether touch-ups can be done before the photo session and the ceremony should be written into the service contract. Now, she books the appointment for her wedding day.

Choosing the right hair stylist will guarantee a beautiful and happy bride.
